This truth has a few interesting aspects:
- It's hidden, never mentioned by pitbull owners in legislative debates.
- It's the "quiet part said out loud" by pitbull activists, rescuers, and owners.
- There seems to be a split in the pitbull activist community: one hand, those who've never heard of this tool or don't care about it, vs. those who insist that all responsible pitbull owners should carry one.
- The fact that it's acknowledged as necessary by pitbull experts goes against their own interests: it's strong evidence that there definitely is something uniquely dangerous about the breed.
